AP Calculus AB or BC

Hello College Confidential community!

I am going to be a freshmen in high school next year, and want to be as educated as possible in making my decision regarding what math course to take. I am currently taking precalculus, and am unsure of whether taking AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC is the better option for next year. In addition, I do not know if taking the appropriate calculus class will play a role in college admissions. I am fortunate to have the resources to be able to take math courses beyond the calculus-level in high school. Thank you for reading this post, and I appreciate any feedback!

If you always find math easy, take Calc BC. Otherwise, ask your teacher in the precalc class which one is more appropriate for you.

Have a hard time believing that a student four grade levels ahead in math would have trouble with BC.

Map out what math classes are available to you in HS. Will you have enough classes to take (at your school or at a local community college) if you take BC this year?

How are you doing in Precalc? I assume it is honors?

What does your current math teacher think?

Thank you for your feedback! I am taking honors precalculus. I will be checking with my current math teacher, and the math department head at the high school that I will be attending. Thanks!
