I am a sophomore at a boarding school and I have to decide the courses to take next year.
For math, I can take Ap calculus Ab or AP Calculus BC. But I am not very good at math even though I have taken honor Algebra II and Honor Precalculus. And I am thinking about taking AP calculus AB instead of BC. But I am afraid that my admission will get hurt if I do not take the most rigorous math class. So my qustion is "

Can’t you take both? At my school you had to take AB before you could get into BC. Either way it’s not going to make a different towards admissions.

In my school, we cannot take BC once we take AB. So after I take Ab this year, I am planning to take AP Stat or Advanced Topic in Math in senior year.

I would say take AB and then AP Stat. It won’t make a difference once you get into the beginner math classes since you start with the basics.

If you take calculus BC you’d be completely lost. The first part of calculus AB teaches you the fundamentals of calculus aka the limit and the derivative. The second part of calculus AB has antiderivatives (which are also in the first part of calculus BC) but how can you master antiderivatives when you don’t know how to derive?

That’s why I found it weird he said he can’t take both AB and BC. I mean…that’s like taking Algebra II without taking Algebra I.

I say if you trust in your math skills and think youll have a good teacher next year, then go for it. i was in pretty much the same situation, but ended up doing the BC. It worked out and i got a five on the test. They also give you a subscore for how you probably would have done on the AB (where i also got a five). So really just look out how confident you are, and decide wether or not you want to put in a little extra work learning slightly harder material

I say AB…I was in the same process that you are in going into my junior year and I decided to take AB my junior year and still havent regretted it. I got accepted to all my number one schools with taking AB and did alot better on the AP tests then the class that took BC.
