I took the ap calculus ab test and got a 5. I didn't take the calculus bc test. Do I have to take the math placement test? I'm in college of letters and science and it says I qualify for math 31A, but I was planning on changing to college of engineering, and it says I get 4 credits for geting a 5 on the calculus ab test if im in the college of engineering. So do I still need to take the placement test for math if I were to say switch into the college of engineering?

A 5 on calc ab gets you out of one quarter of math. I’m pretty this is true in both college of letters and sciences and the engineering school. As far as taking the math placement test…I’m not sure, I never took it. I think if you do well on it, you can test out of another quarter of math (for a total of two quarters of math completed), but that’s it. Hopefully that helps.

I would ask my counselor the first day of orientation
