I just realized the AP CALC test in only three weeks away and I’ve barely began studying. I purchased the Barron’s book but I don’t know how to utilize it. I need tips on how to study and what content to aim at. I’m very bad at applying the concepts of calculus at problems and remembering formulas. Please give me your advice on how to score a four.
Thanks in advance
I would say take practice tests. Also it’s gonna be critical for you to remember all the derivative and integral formula and rules
Does anyone have a sheet with all the formulas I need to know?
@kingkhan11 there are lots of review sheets online containing useful differentiation/integration formulae. A quick Google search should do it.
Well any tabular FRQ I’ve come across always has a part A that you just go [f(b)-f(a)]/[b-a]
They often have a graph of a der of a function with a shape like a semi-circle I would make sure you are good at those types.
They usually have a rate problem of such.
FRQ’s aren’t really that bad for the most part. Especially when you consider you can average 5-6 on them and still get a 5.
As far as formulas go: make sure you know basic trig identities and trig derivatives/integrals. Plus some things like Rolle’s Theorem and the MVT and maybe some limits. Make sure you know the average value formula and the trig inverse derivatives/integrals. Also make sure you know derivatives and integrals of exponential functions. Also know the three definitions of derivatives (Difference Quotient, Symmetric definition and definition at a point c.)
That was VERY helpful @RHSclassof16 Thank you!
Start those practice tests, and do as many as you can.
They’re quite helpful.
If you want to get a 4 on the test just make sure you go through the FRQ’s from about 2010 to 2014 and you will notice that they ask very similar questions every year. Some of them are almost exactly the same. When I started doing that my scores on practice tests began to skyrocket. I’m scoring close to 100% on these tests now.
Thanks! I’ve been hammering the multiple choice and now am focusing on the FRQs you recommend. Thank you so much!
