Anyone taking this next year? I am! I’m so excited, I LOVE math and the teacher at my school is like a legend (my precalc teacher drooled over him lol). I hadn’t seen this thread started yet, so I figured why not?
Let’s discuss!

I’m taking this class!! Yup, I love math too haha.
Anyone taking this have any summer homework? I don’t have any, which I’m really happy about.
Boy, I can’t wait for this class
Yes, I have a giant packet full of review problems from Precalculus to finish, but it isn’t too hard, just time-consuming (150 problems, ugh).
I took Calculus BC last year (which is just AB with a few extras) and got a 5. If you love math this will be lots of fun, make sure you understand the fundamentals and basic concepts of calculus or else you will be lost forever (not to sound pessimistic or anything, but it is true). And if you didn’t do good in Precalc, don’t worry because calculus uses very little from Precalc
Taking this class this year! I have no summer homework but will probably review a little before school starts
Just started class this past Monday! My teacher is great already, I can tell, he gives his home and cell number for students to call him for hw help, as long as you don’t call after 9! O.o
We aren’t doing much yet (he said we won’t touch actual calculus till week 3), just rehashing some basic graphs (x^2, sine, log, etc)
Having my first test in this class tomorrow ayy
Good luck, @Shanban1607! I had my first test last Friday, and it went pretty well :). I got used to the test format (multiple-choice plus FRQ), so that’s always a plus! What topic is your test on?
@Mathophile26 It’s on our “preliminary” chapter, literally alg1+2 stuff lol. Won’t be hard
Oh ok @Shanban1607. Lucky We move at a pretty fast pace (block schedule, with 4 full classes per semester), so we just did limits and such, and we’re on derivatives now. It’s so interesting!
Edit: I just realized that you posted what topics you were covering in an above post. Oops
My math teacher is so great :))
I’m trying to get my review books early this year so I can study for the class from them because they are very helpful. I am looking Princeton review and they have a premium and non-premumium option. It appears the the only advantage to the premium is 2 more practice tests. Is the premium worth the extra 6 bucks? Even if I’m not sure if I’ll use even the 3 from the regular. Money is a little tight right now for me but if it’s really worth it I’ll fork over the money.
@singingwriting
Get the regular version. There’s no need to have more than 3. CB has calc AB official questions online that make it a total of 4-5 practice tests. Also the books are really cheap on Amazon. Good luck!
Everyone keep in mind that the Calculus exams have changed. If your teachers don’t go over this, study it on your own.
Additions to Calc AB:
L’Hospitals Rule
@ZealousScholar Thank you! The one I’ve looking at is only like 10 bucks which is not bad but when I’m buying 4 or 5 review books for different classes every cent counts!
@ZealousScholar, wow, I just learned L’Hospital’s Rule. What a coincidence
@singingwriting, I completely agree. I have to buy a bunch of prep books, and it’ll come out to around $40 (plus tax). Plus the cost of all those AP tests. Sigh
@Mathophile26 Mine are going to be around $50 and like like $300 for the tests. But it’s cheaper than taking these classes in college!
True, true
hey do you guys know if the ap test deducts points for wrong answers?
