UCLA Department of Mathematics

I was looking at that site, and was wondering what it meant when it says, for example, "Credit for 4 units of Calculus." How would those credits be used if they don't even give you credit for a whole math course? How many units is a typical math course?

Since UCLA uses a quarter system, how does that work with choosing courses? Let's say I end up in 31A. I'm assuming that lasts one quarter. What would my math class be the next quarter? 31B? And then 31C the next quarter?

Thank you.

EDIT: Eh, may as well ask this since I'm here already: What is the typical course load for a first-year student at UCLA?
