I’m taking AP Calculus AB and regular physics, and I’ve got an A in both classes. If I have to choose between these two exams to take in May (that will both require me to study and do some extra-scholastic preparation), which one will be more useful for the university application? For engineering at Stanford/Carnegie Mellon/Cornell University
I would think Calc BC because it’s generally considered one of the harder APs
@gabrieleoliaro Both of those classes are considered tough AP courses. I assume you are a senior if you are trying to cram one of those two courses in. BC would seem more plausible than regular physics but BC will be no easy task, especially to self study. You need a strong base in AB to be able to understand and apply those concepts to BC.
If you’re doing well in Calculus AB then you should be fine with BC - except for sequences and series, the few new topics that you cover are fairly simple. I think you would find it easier to extrapolate Calc AB into BC than self-study Physics C, as there’s an enormous amount of overlap.
Neither. No school expects is applicants to take an AP test without having had the class.
As to which one you can probably do better on, I agree with Calc BC, assuming you have a strong grasp of the AB concepts.
