I took pre-calculus this past year, but I only did average. I had a lot of stuff going on this past eyar and stuff with 5 AP's and a job and stuff. So basically, my teachr said I have to take AP Calculus AB or AP Stats, not Calc BC because I got a C in pre-calculus. I mean, it wasnt that the material was hard, I jus didnt study for it a lot. In any case, a C is passing. and since I am in a public school, cant i take whatever I want as long as I met the prerequisites? I passed Pre-calculus so cant I take Calculus BC if I want regardless of what the teacher says?

it depends on the school. my school you have to meet the prerequisites and have our math teachers recommend us. If we don't have the recommendation, we can't take it.

Well, since you go to a public school, your parents tell the counselor that "they" feel AP cal BC is the best for your or something like that. That will almost gurantee you placement in the class.

Go for it, it's a complete different class. I did a lot better in Calc BC than Pre-Cal...

it depends on your district's policy.. my district, for example, allows you to take any class that you werent recommended for as long as your parents sign a "waiver form"..
I independent studied Precalc and only mastered the basics - then i got a 5 on the AP Calc BC exam.. if you are willing to study + practice the topics, you will definetely do well on it.
