from what i see on the USC website, the same amount of credits are given to those who take Calc AB as those who take Calc BC....is there really no benefit to taking Calc BC if i go to USC?

The difference is with a 5 on the BC test you can start with Math 226 (Calculus III). Calc I and II are waived. Calc II is the engineering weed-out course. You are right that either way you only get 4 units of credit but in the long run that will likely be irrelevant.

only a five? of is a four acceptable on Calc BC to be placed into Calculus III (math 226)?

thejobe, check out this site:

What about for business majors? I know we don’t take Calc I (we take an equivalent, probably easier class, called Fundamental Principles of Calculus…haha), and we don’t need to go beyond that.

There is no difference between taking AP Calc AB or BC and a 4 or 5 on either test for business majors. Any combination of those will get you out of MATH 118. However, a 4/5 on the AB Subscore on the BC exam WILL NOT get you out of MATH 118 unfortunately.

Dang…then why did I bother with BC this year at all! Haha, should’ve just said “screw it” and switched to AB.
