AP calculus--> calculator

Does anyone have a program for the TI 83+ that could do disc and shell methods? I don't remember how to do them.

Also, do they check your calculator for illegal programs before the test, or could i but any program i want on mine?

I would also be interested in this program.

first of all shutup, second of all if a teacher did check your calculator you couldn't protest it because it is written under the CB statement to act ethically. Thirdly 99% of the time rhe disc and shell methods are under the non calculator section :)

are you kidding??

in the last 4 years, the area/ volume question has always been on the free response... number 1 to be exact.. but anyways, i dont think its hard. so why bother with a program? arent we supposed to erase our memory before the test

Our teachers never erase our memories. Besides, college board says on the AP guidelines for calc: if you used other programs, you should still show the mathematical steps taken to reach your answer.

Bascially, that questions that allow calculators are not designed to test your memory, but your application. They don't care if you didn't memorize some formula, but you better know how to use it.

You can program anything you want into your calculator. But the test is designed so that programs will be of little or no help. Google your calculator name and disk/washer programs. The TI website has many programs.

Shells are not tested on the AP Calculus exam (AB & BC). Disks/washers are required and usually it is on the calculator portion of the free response.

Here is the breakdown of the test:

Section I Part A Non- Calulator 55 min. 28 Mult. Choice questions
Section I Part B Calculator 50 min. 17 Mult. Choice questions
Section II Part A Calculator 45 min. 3 Free Response questions
Section II Part b Non-Calculator 45 min. 3 Free Response questions (and the first three questions are still available to you to finish -- but no calculator).

Here is the official college board calculator web-site:

<a href="http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/calculus_ab/calc.html?calcab%5B/url%5D">http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/calculus_ab/calc.html?calcab</a></p>

If there happens to be a disc or shell method on part of a Calculator-actice part of the exam, then you're expected to at least set up the integral; that is, if you want a majority of the points. The calculator is only used to solve (that is, for an exact answer) integrals, derivatives, or sometimes find zeroes or graphs that involve complicated functions.

zetsui, don't tell him to shut up just because you don't know what you are talking about. Programs are not illegal on the test and no teacher will erase your memory, where the hell did u see this?
