I am currently a sophomore about to register for next year’s classes, and my school just added the AP Seminar/AP Research program. How good does this program and the Capstone Diploma look to universities, specifically those like UVA, UNC and Vanderbilt? Also, what is the class itself like? It seems quite fun and interesting! Thank you for the advice!
@AliCat2018 Hi there, I’m a Junior currently taking AP Seminar. It’s a great class, but if you have ANY issue with procrastination, you should not take this class AT ALL. This class requires a lot of work outside of school and you work very independently on research, etc. but if you can deal with that stuff, it’s a very rewarding experience. I’ve also been told that high-ranking universities are very impressed by the skills that AP Seminar develops and puts to the test, but I’m sure you’ll have to do well on the AP test to really impress them. Also, be aware that you will be completing different parts of the AP test (3 main parts: group research project, individual research project, actual AP exam in May) throughout the entire year, so prepare for some stress. But I do recommend you take it! If you have any other questions, feel free to message me
(no real way of knowing yet how college’s will respond to AP Capstone courses–they’re still so new, after all)
