I am not sure of the difficulty, but all I know is that in my school 40% of the people who take calc bc get a 5 and ~45/46% who take chem get a 5. In fact you have a better chance to get a 5 over a 4. Is it just my school or are the tests relatively easy or average?

For Calc BC, that’s about the distribution worldwide. For Chem, though, that is just your school. Look on the collegeboard’s website to see the true grade distributions.

Actually, calc is a bit low at your school. Chem’s pretty high.

I wouldn’t say either test is easy if like there was no curve and a 90+ was a 5, 80+ a 4, etc. That said, the curves make some tests easy. AP Econ I recall had a pretty tough curve but the test was easy. Chem apparently must be a decently tough test with little curve (and a lot of students taking it only had intro chem), and Calc I’d say is also a decently tough test, but probably with a bigger curve. AP Physics is the hardest one by far imo, but it has a huge curve.

Human Geography seems to have the most lenient curve for some reason. A few years ago it was 58% of the points = 5.

Calc BC isn’t hard at all (assuming you know the material), but I would not call chem easy. A lot of people get 5s, but I remember that the people in my chem class were 1. the brightest kids in my school, and 2. scrambling like crazy to finish the test on time.

Calculus BC is one of the easiest APs out there, besides AB (lol). Chemistry isn’t that bad really, but would be really hard to self study completely. Our Chemistry score distribution is similar to yours or better. Guess we just have good teachers…

Chem is pretty easy in our school but our teacher is really great. I don’t know much about Calc BC (I’m taking it this year) but from what I’ve heard it’s pretty easy if you understand it (like it’s not an impossibly hard test).

Calc BC is good at my school, but that’s 'cause the Calc BC teacher hand picks which students will do the tests in BC or AB (I can only imagine a 100% pass rate for BC under this system).

Chem at my school is miserable, and I have it next year. In the last two years, only one person has gotten a 5. I’m not sure if it’s the teacher. I love the guy, and he is really smart. However, I just feel he has a hard time communicating his ideas. I’ll see if I can score the elusive 5, but I would be perfectly content with a 4.

Chem is usually considered much easier than Calc BC.
