AP Chem. Can you take regular Chem before AP and still get an A? Or is that only Honors Chem

I’m pretty stressed out into going into AP Chem even though I really want to. I did not take homors Chem in 10th grade but I took regular Chem. I got a really good grade in the class and on the midterm. I want to continue on to AP Chem but I want to know if it’s possible to get an A in the class without taking honors but regular Chem. Also is the math involved really difficult is it a lot like regular Chem ? And are the labs very difficult too? I really want to get all A’s (no A-) and I don’t want this class to bring my GPA down

That question is better addressed to your GC and HS Chemistry department.

It’s possible, but let me tell you, it’s a struggle.

How good are your math skills? What level of math are you taking and will be taking next year?

They both should have covered the same curriculum. Honors classes are meant to be faster-paced and more in-depth than regular classes, but, as long as you understood the material, you should be fine.

At my school, nobody takes honors or standard classes before taking the AP equivalent, they just jump right into AP,… Having taken standard chem already gives you a decent boost compared to some. If you’re really worried, I would ask your guidance counselor or the AP chem teacher(s).

Thanks everyone for responding! But my math skills are all right. I figured math in AP Chem is the same in regular Chem which is conversions. And I can do that pretty well.
