AP Chem Help

My AP Chem class just started thermochemistry (We are using the Central Science textbook, not Zumdahl which I have read a lot about on this site) and I was just wondering how big of a topic this is on the AP. I have not taken Physics yet, not even a basic course, so I am having difficulty with understanding most of the information about work and energy, etc.

Also, what topic are you guys up to? Our school started in September. I know some of you guys start in August so yea.

Thank you!

My class is using the same textbook (eighth edition) and we’ve also just started thermochemistry! Though we did skip to electrochemistry first.

According to my princeton review book, thermochemistry takes up apparently 5 of 75 questions on the test.

It tends to come up in the free response section, so I would try my best if I were you. Ask your teacher for supplemental materials, or ask if you can borrow an alternate textbook from him/her that might explain things in a way you might understand better. You can also look through the internet for videos ([Khan Academy](<a href=“Khan Academy | Free Online Courses, Lessons & Practice”>Khan Academy | Free Online Courses, Lessons & Practice)) or other explanations.

I took AP Chem last year, but someone in AP Chem asked me a question the other day on effective nuclear charge. I still have my book from last year, so that would be chapter seven of your textbook.

Thank you both for replying! And after reading the Princeton chapter on it, I understand it now. =]
