I took Chemistry my junior year, but obviously learned nothing! I started school August 4th and have done two labs and two quizzes; I can't get above a C on the quizzes (gasp, he's not a robot!) and the labs aren't making much sense to me. I feel really stupid and "out of the loop," besides starting to freak out!

Can anyone suggest books or online resources that helped them get through AP Chem? I am not looking for textbooks or Einsteinian resources, but rather a "For Dummies" genre!

Peterson's AP Chem review book works wonders. My friend used it and got high 90's and 100's on all of her tests. I had it... but didn't use it, but it looks pretty and is apparently really good.

reading the textbook is absolutely essential - visualizing the concepts and whatnot. I didn't do a single lab in ap chem, and my teacher didn't know anything. I took notes from the chapters... with hard work I achieved a 4.

Well, almost everyone hates AP chem at first. Very few people are used to the type of thinking in chemistry. However, when you get to gas laws, you either start liking chemistry, or you hate it even more.

Reading the textbook will be very hard for now, so just read ur teacher's notes.

^Lol, once we got going with gas laws, I despised it even more. I struggled throughout the year to maintain a B, but I got a nice 4 on the exam :D

I happened to enjoy AP Chem, but I think chemistry is one of those subjects where insight is more effective than hard work. I didn't read the textbook the whole year; learning from practice tests was a much more effective method.
