AP Chem or AP Bio in junior year?

Hi everyone! I’m currently a sophomore in high school, and this week we have to choose which AP courses we would like to take junior and senior year. I’m completely torn whether I should take AP Chem or AP Bio next year. I already signed up for AP lang, AP Russian, AP US History, and will be required to take regular physics.

I’m definitely more passionate about biology than chemistry, and knowing it requires a lot more reading than chem, it wouldn’t be smart to take two AP humanities along with it. AP Chem is also notorious for being the hardest class at my school, and I really don’t want to lose my 4.0 GPA in junior year when it matters most.

Basically my choices are

  1. AP Chem junior year, AP Bio senior year, or
  2. AP Bio junior year, AP Psych senior year

I really need help deciding ASAP because I have to sign up by tomorrow! Any help and advice from previous experiences would be so greatly appreciated.

If you’re more passionate about Biology, I would say go for Biology instead of Chemistry. Both are good options, but if you think that taking AP Chem will be a threat to your GPA, it’s better to stay safe with a subject that you are more interested in and will do better in. If you want to dampen your workload next year, it would be helpful to begin looking through next year’s subjects over the summer.
