AP Chem or AP Bio?

I've seen posts like this multiple times on CC and have decided to add my own into the fray...

So it's my senior year, and I can either take AP Chemistry or AP Biology, both of which last two periods.

So, a little about myself. I'm not interested in majoring in math/science or anything of that sort, I'm thinking more of business or finance, or international relations, you know, the social sciences route. However, I haven't taken an AP science yet in high school and I think it would do good for my resume. (Side note: I am not interested in AP environmental science and absolutely loathe physics belong my wildest dreams, so that's not an option)

I have no strong dislike for either bio or chem. Actually, both subjects I enjoyed while in the GT level classes. Both the finals for the two subjects were difficult for me, although I received an A in both classes.

I consider myself an English-y kind of person, and I hear that's good for a subject like bio. Chem requires a lot of application of techniques, but bio requires a very sharp memory. My faith in my memory isn't really big, and that's what worries me.

Also, the chemistry teacher at my school I absolutely adore, while for bio we have a new teacher this year and so I won't be able to know if she is proficient or not.

What do you guys think? This is a decision I've been grappling with for several months now :</p>

Oh, and it it is any help, here's my senior year schedule:
AP Econ
AP Calc BC
Foreign Language
Honors Tech (I hate these mandatory classes...)
AP English Lit
AP Science (chem or bio?)

bio is much easier than chem if:
a. you can memorize
b. take time to memorize

^Definitely agree with the above poster. Bio might consume more of your time, but it’s less difficult as well. However, in your case, I’d probably suggest chem. The teacher honestly makes a world of a difference, and there IS a LOT of memorization in AP bio…at least twice as much as in the regular class.

Based on teacher qualifications, take the chem. Unless the new teacher has experience teaching AP Biology elsewhere, the course will not be as well organized as the AP Chemistry taught by the more experienced teacher.
