If i study thoroughly for the AP Chemistry test do i have to worry about studying for the SAT II Chem, which is the weekend before?

Are the formats that different?
And what about the level of difficulty for both? Is getting a 5 same as getting an 800?

Well, there are open-ended AP chem questions, are there not? the SAT Chem is pure multiple choice. I'd take a bunch of SAT II Chem practice tests in rapid succession the week before (but not on friday) the SAT II. You shouldn't have trouble with the content, but don't go to test day without having familiarized yourself with the format.

The AP is more challenging and demanding. A 5 should count more than an 800, but don't quote me.

Don't underestimate the SAT II Chem. I'm taking IB Higher Chem, and I found the Chem SAT tough. I actually took a practice test out of a Kaplan book and scored bad enough to make me want to do the Physics SAT II instead. The Chem SAT has a lot of material on it, and the raw-scaled curve is surprisingly tough.

I have signed up for the SAT II Chem also, but have not taken it. The only thing I know is that my AP Chem teacher says the test doesn't hold a candle to the AP Chem test itself. I don't know what your school teaches, but he says that the SAT II Chem is approximately at the level of a Chemistry B or CP Chemistry class.
