I'm going into the medical, bio, chem, etc fields and I'm wondering whether I should either take ap chem or physics c. I'm currently a junior in precalc (worst class), looking to take the following: AP English Lang, AP Chem or physics c, AP Bio, AP Gov, Conceptual Calc, study hall, and personal finance. In honors physics (my school doesn't offer ap phys b) i enjoy the class and think its fun. When I was in chem, it was over the summer at community college (4 hours a day, 2 days a week) i also thought it was pretty fun (but not as much). I managed to get well over a hundred (because of the weights: half the class didn't even care) Which science should i take?

AP Chem if you want to go into the medical field, AP Physics C for engineering.

Either one prepares you for college… it’s really up to you. I’d pick Chem because you enjoyed it and have past experience.

I’d take chemistry, it has more to do with the medical track than physics does. Physics is more along the Engineering track so if you really do feel passionate about physics, maybe reconsider what kind of field you’d like to get a job in?

sadly my math grade wasn’t high enough for ap chem, so i’ll be taking ap physics c (makes no sense, but that’s how it works at my school).

So, the one that requires more math requires a lower math grade.

Wow, your school is smart.

I would’ve suggested the Physics C anyways. It’s more rigorous and besides, you need physics for the med field too.

@Kawaiiii
Yes, the physics department head believes that if you want to take ap physics c, then “nothing” should stop you. The requisite for ap physics c is taking calc or ap calc (basically get a passing grade in math) concurrently with the course and an 87% in academic physics (i have a 95% in honors). The prerequisite for ap chem is an 85% in chem and a 90% in alg 2/trig (i got an 87% in alg 2/trig and a 105% in chem @ comm. college., because of the 10+% amount of extra credit). I know it doesn’t make sense, but that’s how my school rolls.

Your school’s going to roll off the side of education…

Just take physics

Thanks, i’ll be taking ap bio and ap physics.

@Kawaiiii It turns out my school only offers Mechanics (they stopped offering E&C two/three years ago). Does this make a difference? Since I’m going into medicine I think I can appeal the decision, if ap chem is not filled (plus since idk why an 87% in math is more important than a 100% at community college chem in not letting me join the class).
