I have a problem regarding future classes. I'm a freshman and I have Chemistry this year, while most other Freshman are taking Bio. My Chemistry teacher really recommends I take AP Chemistry next year or she will find me. I really want to take AP Chem, but to graduate, I need at least one year of Bio. So it is either I take Honors Bio next year, or AP Chem. i am really considering AP Chem since it is fresh in my mind for next year, and i don't want to be in a Biology class with a bunch of freshman next year. How hard would AP Bio be in 11th grade? I could also take it Sophomore year too.... Then I also want to take AP Physics in 12th because I am interested in Math and going for either a Math or Economics Major in college. Your opinions? Is Chem good to learn before going into AP Bio? Thanks.

I’m currently in AP Chemistry and I can definitely attest to the fact that having Chemistry fresh in your mind will be a major help. Coming off of Chemistry Honors (I am now a Junior), I definitely found myself at an advantage compared to Seniors that took a gap year between Chem and AP Chem. The knowledge needs to be fresh because AP Chem is all building upon old material. Biology on the other hand is pretty much an extension on the sciences that you’ve been taking throughout the end of elementary and throughout middle school. It is not difficult at all.

I definitely agree with feliciastu. Do AP chem next year while (hopefully) you still remember things from this year’s chem.

AP Chem! Take it while you can.

Well, I’m a senior who took a gap year and I don’t feel at a disadvantage. If anything I’m doing better than the kids who took chemistry the year before. Mainly due to differences in maturity.
