I'm currently in AP Chem, and took honors chemistry last year. We're on par with the typical curriculum pace, which means we just finished chapter 10 in the current Zumdahl textbook. I have an old copy of a Chemistry SAT II review/study book, and I've noticed that the concepts we're learning now aren't included, and we've already gone over just about everything mentioned as being on the test.

If you took AP Chem, did you wait until June to take the SAT II? Do you think I'd be safe taking it earlier in the spring, when the easier/basic material is still fresh in my mind, or should I wait until we've reviewed it all for the AP exam?

i took honors chem in 10th grade and was 3 months into AP chem of my senior year when i took it, this december. ull have to teach all the stuff to yourself. i assume ur a junior?

i didnt think it was that difficult and was able to teach myself (hoping for an 800 now). i think you should definitely wait it out tho...u have nothing to lose by waiting.

id take it in may, just around when ur takin APs

you have an advantage cause youre in ap chemistry, but you'll still need to do some self-learning (get a princeton review book) cause a lot of the stuff on the test isnt taught in schools

Taking AP Chemistry makes the subject test so easy.

I took AP chem last year as a Junior, and since you're a junior too, I would recommend taking the test either May or June, and not earlier.

There isn't a rush, and more practice with the AP material gives you an edge with solving the SAT MC questions. Just remember that the SAT format has that one strange question type, but other than that the test is pretty easy for someone who has taken a year of AP Chemistry.

I took the test in May because I took the SATS in March and again in June.

If you want to focus on the AP exam in May, then take it in June, there isn't much difference. But I didn't find taking the subject tests the week before AP exams to be stressful or distracting.

I took it in May. I didn't study any content for it- the review we were already doing in AP Chem was sufficient (scored 800/5). However, make sure you familiarize yourself with the test format, most notably the True/False/Correct Explanation questions.
