***AP Chemistry (2016-2017)***

“People who were still working when I said times up come here. I mean people who still had questions left come inside here… Since we started 10 minutes later, I called Collegeboard to see if we can make up the time but they said that we cannot allow you to open your sealed tests. However we have set your tests aside so AP Readers will examine your answers separately. It will be obvious which ones you guessed on because you know all of a sudden you put B B B B without any work… You will not be penalized on those and only graded on what you have actually completed.”

Those were almost her exact words and I mean it makes sense because all our other answers somewhat have work but if at the end we put down one letter for 10 questions with no work on the book, it is obvious we ran out of time. Buuuuuut it still seems kind of confusing :// Anyone care to clarify?

@Orcmeister I feel like your proctors were maybe misinformed? One of the most difficult parts of the AP Chemistry exam is that it’s timed. Many people would be able to score a 5 if the time was unlimited, or even increased. Thus, I doubt that not answering certain questions would allow for those questions not to count against you. I wish that was true, but that would result in too many loopholes (e.g. someone could technically answer one question and still get a 5 if that one question is right).

Plus, you wouldn’t be able to prove that “B B B B” was guesswork. Again, too much subjectivity, opening College Board to scandal; the AP tests are supposed to be standardized. They wouldn’t risk it.

Here’s hoping that the curve is 60% for a 5… :expressionless: (yes I l know, let me dream)

Hey, I took the AP Chemistry test today. As I was going through the multiple
choice, I thought it was pretty easy. Then, when we got to the FRQ section,
I completely freaked out.

The multiple choice was far easier than I had expected, but 2 of the Long
FRQ’s were extremely difficult for me. The others were reasonable, but two
of them were just ridiculous. Did anyone else have a similar experience?

@logosoverpathosm I had form O

@Tobster18 cheers to that!

Would we not find out the cutoff until the official release of scores?

On the FRQs, I used pencil and I didn’t apply it as hard as I should have. Could I miss points if my pencil was too light? It was readable when viewed directly, but I’m not sure if they will be able to read it through a scan of the page.

@logosoverpathosm i don’t think we’ll ever find out

I also got Form 0! And for the frqs, I don’t it will matter too much if you write in pencil because it will still be readable, and they’ll probably still be able to read it through a scan of the page.

Am I the only one who thought the mult choice was harder than the FRQ???

It could just be that I’m better with conceptual stuff than mathy stuff…

@Potyaletyuk I wouldn’t worry about it, if I were you. They will definitely make sure they scan everything correctly and such, as that is their liability.

@Yarnweaver @lmNotARobot @catullus101 @ibanker38
Did you guys take form O? Because I took that form too and I thought the FRQ was really tedious and mostly all describing stuff…
I thought the MC was really easy and I finished everything without trouble (only a few i wasn’t sure). But the FRQ, I couldn’t finish an entire short answer question, half a short answer, and two parts question for the long answer… Do you think my dream of a 5 is ruined?

@gkdudtlffj I feel exactly the same way. Exactly.

@gkdudtiffj that’s around an 80 for the FRQ so far, depends on how you did for the rest of it. And of course the MC, but there probably is still hope

Do they release the answers with the FRQ in 2 days? Or just the questions?

I thought the MC was harder than last year’s, but the FRQ I thought was easy. Only problem I had trouble on was the last long question because I suck at that concept. I flew through the rest of the FRQs. Seems like the opposite of what everyone else here experienced.

That’d be amazing. @Awesome2020

Did anyone else also get a negative Ecell for the free response?
