AP Chemistry credit and CS freshman schedule

I am currently taking AP chemistry and as many of you know the AP test is next month. I am in L&S and after an extensive research I have found myself unable to find any info on whether AP chemistry will give me any kind of credit. The main reason why I am asking is because I dont want to study for a test that might not be beneficial to me in anyway except intellectual enlightenment (which I don't value at this point of the year).
I am planning to major in CS. I am open to suggestions for my freshman year schedule. Also, I would like to know what kind of teachers I would find in those classes and how to what extent grades are inflated/deflated.

With a sufficiently high score, you get credit units which can help you class standing (but not class level) for registration purposes. They can also help you graduate early, or avoid graduating late, but do not count against the unit ceiling.

Chemistry AP credit can substitute for Chemistry 1A (3 or higher allows taking Chemistry 1B; 4 or higher allows taking Chemistry 3A). However, Chemistry 1A is not required or recommended for L&S CS, so it does nothing for your major.

A prospective L&S CS major should consider the following courses for his/her schedule:

CS 61A

Math – see the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/1305840-freshman-math-faq.html</a></li>

Reading and composition course, if needed (did not get a 5 on AP English literature)

Breadth courses fulfilling categories of the [L&S 7 course breadth](http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/requirement/7breadth.html) that are not fulfilled by your major courses, and the American Cultures requirement (generally, courses with numbers suffixed by AC, but also History 7A and 7B count for this). Some courses like ESPM 50AC and ESPM C12 / English C77 can fulfill any one of several L&S 7 course breadth categories.

hi martalson,

I’m also in L&S and planning to major in CS.

Just wondering if you are going to try to transfer into College of Engineering CS?

thanks
