AP Chemistry Multiple Choice Question

Hello! When going through the review questions from the Barrons AP Chemistry review book, I find myself getting problems wrong simply because I can't do the tedious arithmetic required in the time alloted.

Do arithmetic issues play a big role in the multiple choice of a real AP exam, or are the calculations that are required very simple to do? Thank you for any help!

Since you aren’t allowed to use a calculator, they are usually relatively simple.
For example, if you had a question like “What is the molar concentration of NO3- ions present in a 0.025 M aqueous solution of calcium nitrate?” Calcium Nitrate is Ca(NO3)2, so

0.025 mols calcium nitrate / L x 2 mols NO3-/mol calcium nitrate = 0.050 M NO3-.

It’s usually something simple like that.

However, note that most questions on the multiple choice section are concept-questions, anyway.
