My school doesn't offer AP Chemistry, and everyone says it's too difficult to self study for the exam.
So is it better for me to not take the exam at all or is it better to self study and get a less than satisfactory grade?
I want to major in biology/biochemistry, so I might need it..

It takes motivation and dedication, but it’s definitely not impossible to do so. Just get a textbook and review book. It helps a lot to watch online college lectures such as MIT OCW or Berkeley webcast (which in my opinion are better than lectures in the HS classroom), although it seems like many CC self studiers survive with just a textbook and prep book.

I don’t know how easy it would be. There were many topics that my teacher was very good at explaining that looked difficult when first looking at the text.

^I agree. It was great for me to have a very good teacher for AP Chem. If you self study, I definitely recommend watching lectures and other videos for the trickier topics.

I had one of the greatest teachers for AP chem then too I struggled.

You can go ahead and watch Khan Academy videos of AP Chem and try to get a good score…oh and I don’t think you’ll get any college credit if your major is related to Chemistry. The college will require you to take chem classes and not just get AP credit.
