AP Chemistry? Or Environmental Sciences.

Hi, I was just wondering the difficulty of AP Chemistry because i've heard mixed reviews some say its murder, others say it's easy. Im currently taking AP Biology with a hard teacher but the subjects are not that difficult, right now we're doing a Photosynthesis/Respiration/Thermodynamics unit and it seems pretty simple. The problem is we require academic or honors chem before taking AP Chemistry. My teacher for academic chem pretty much wasted our year and faked our grades (a student who wrote nothing on the final exam recieved an 85. Go figure). How difficult is AP Chemistry with limited prior knowledge, I seem to pick up on some of it pretty well, however i'm worried that i'm destined to fail. My easy science is AP Env. Sciences which is AP the Biology Ecology Unit for the entire year, seems simple (and a bit boring). How did you do in AP Chemistry, was it insanely difficult? Or do I have a fighting chance if I work at it? I want a class that is more impressive to colleges than AP Env Sciences and require 4 sciences for some schools im looking to attend.

In my school, we seriously have to study some stuff by ourselves during the summer before taking AP chem.

So, it depends on how your class plays it, exactly. But if you self study during the summer with a simple introduction even at the level of Chemistry for Dummies or something, you’ll probably be prepared for the AP material. If not, just keep AP books and textbooks handy. AP Chemistry will definitely give you a much greater advantage than AP ES.

Don’t think you are destined to fail. If that worries you, it might be a good idea to relax some of your courseload for next year.

I thought AP chem was fairly easy, it was a lot of work but not too hard. Lots of labs lol but they were fun. AP chem credit is probably more applicable in more colleges too but you’d have to check for each school
