***AP Chemistry Thread 2015-2016***

^^My daughter said the FRQs were hard, but MC wasn’t bad.

It’s really strange, I thought the multiple choice was torture but the FRQ’s were easy, but I was talking to the girl who sat next to me for the AP Psychology test later that day and she said that she thought that the multiple choice was easy and the FRQ’s were hard.

I wonder which curve will be lower, the one this year or the one last year? I wonder how the people who took the test both years did.

There were 60 MCQs right??

@Dcruzoboe Yup

I felt that the MC was fairly easy. There were no questions that were super confusing, or from a topic that I did not learn in my course. The FR section was more difficult though. If I remember correctly, I skipped two letter options because they required long answers and I was low on time. For whatever reason, I was not as confident as I normally am, so I kept second guessing myself. sigh That really messed up my pace throughout the test. However, on practice tests I normally score in the mid 70s on the FR. Hopefully that will be the case!

I feel like I either scored a high 4 or a low 5…pretty much the most tense position to be in. Either way, both scores are good. I thought both frq and mc were harder than usual, so hopefully the curve is lenient.

@JuicyMango: I agree with you, and I also feel like I’m on the border of 4 / 5.

I should know that most CC kids are overachievers and shouldn’t overwhelm myself but…
That test
ruined my life
I was literally bleeding while bubbling answers my heart was failing my wrists were crumbling
and that frq made me cry. I had physical tears
I’m hoping for a three but idk how I did. Please have a gracious curve I’m deceased
(lmao when you just barely surviving and everyone else be like: i want a 5)

@JuicyMango Which curve do you think will be lower: this year’s or last year’s? Also it’s good to see you again. I remember seeing you all the time when I browsed the SAT threads. :stuck_out_tongue:

The MC was way easier than the practice tests I did in class, but I’m still not gonna say it’s easy. FRQs were a joke imo, I finished 30 minutes early.

@Greninja It’s hard to say, but imo this year’s test was harder so the curve should be a bit more lenient.

Yeah I was pretty invested in the SAT…thankful that I’m done with that dreaded test though lol.

@JuicyMango Oh that’s interesting. I heard last year’s FRQ was brutal, so I assumed that last year was harder.

I’m still not done with the SAT, I took the new one and I felt like I did awful so I’ll probably take it again. I still need to do my subject tests though (which would probably be Chemistry, Math II, and U.S. History) so I probably won’t retake them until senior year.

@Greninja I took last year’s exam as well (retook the exam this year because I got a 3 and wanted a 4 or 5), and the FRQs were indeed harder but the MC was easier. Overall, I felt this exam was harder but I might be biased since I really want some good curves :p.

Remember, practice makes perfect. Just do lots of practice exams and you’ll be fine. I went up like 800 points by just doing lots of practice tests. It’s a cliche saying, but its cliche because its true :).

Who wants to discuss about the exam

@sb98park Go to Reddit, that’s not allowed on here

I am going to be good to get a 3 lol. I’ve taken a full blown mock through the state and 2 PR practice tests. That was the easiest multiple choice section I’ve taken out of all 3 but probably the hardest FRQ. I probably got 25-30 on MC and about 10 on FRQ lol. I think that’s good considering I know nothing about thermodynamics. Any of you experts think I can pull of a 3?

When they release the FRQ will they release it with the scoring guide?

Yes they will. And yeah you will easily pull off a 3 with that. Hey guys, I think I got around 25-30 on mc which is bad. But free response I think I killed it! Maybe 2 or 3 small errors. What score should I expect?

@jwn9917 No, they will only release the questions in 48hrs. The scoring guidelines don’t come until after we get our score so we’ll see our score before we know the answers to the FRQ. Using the AP Chemistry Score Calculator at apcalculator.com, 30 MC and 10/46 on the multiple is about a 36% which was a 2. The cutoff for a 3 on the 2014 exam was a 42% apparently

No one answered my question haha so I will say it again.

apcalculator.com says a high 4.
