***AP Chemistry Thread 2015-2016***

For a baseline estimation of your score @sb98park let’s say you got 30 MC (upper end of your MC range), then you would need 44/46 or more on the FRQ to get a 5 based on 2014’s cutoff, which was 73%. Anything less would be a 4 so if you aced the FRQ you would have a 4, even with 25MC

i’m pretty sure this year’s curve will be a lot less forgiving than 2014’s; that year was the first redesigned exam. this year’s exam was relatively easy compared to that one

International test was different from the US test. Sigh… won’t be able to see my FRQs unless CB releases them…

Which they won’t

So am I the only one that thinks both sections were easy lol

@lemonbae the 2015 curve was actually higher, but the 2016 curve probably won’t be. I took the 2014 and 2015 released exams and 2016 was easier than both of them.

@annana oh, i see! yes, i thought 2016’s was easy too…i kinda wished it was harder though )’: i made a bunch of careless mistakes

@annana do you know what last year’s curve was? i saw 68% on AP Pass but not sure if that’s reputable. My chem teacher told me it was mid-70’s-ish

@Homsar last year’s curve was 66% for a 5 and in 2014 it was 72%. AP pass uses data from a long time ago when the exam was different and there was a guessing penalty, so I wouldn’t rely on it.

72%??? oh my god… I’m screwed…

i made at least 6 careless mistakes on free response. it was so easy too. sigh…

Hmmmm… I felt like the multiple choice were RLLY RLLY RLLY ez…i got >=85%on those

Then FRQ I was panicking thinking to myself “I have to do this problem completely to get a 5” without actually doing the problems
…so I ran out of time…for short FRQs 4-7 I had 10 min left so I rushed through them and somehow managed to answer all of them and I thought I was done
…then I realized that I only did half of number 3 and time was up…and I got the other half mostly wrong lol…who knows (HOPE THEY CAN READ MY HANDWRITING)

so predicting MC 85% FRQ 60% 72.5% TOTAL (LOW 5…but maybe higher on MC and lower FRW)…HOPE

AP Chem was rough, but I think I managed to pull out a 4, which I would be happy with.

Well I thought I pulled off a good score until everyone said they got different answers than me

I’m going to be upset if I don’t get a 4 or 5. I killed both the MC and Free Response which is new for me. Out of the 7 exams I’ve taken thus far (and I have four more to take this month), the only other AP which I though free response was easy was Art History.

I thought the mc was harder than usual, but the frqs were easy.

@ObitoSigma

What.

Lol I better get a 5…mybe a high 4…

I missed the 7th FRQ… I finished the first 6 within 45 min and played around with my pencil for an hour… And I paid for it… I had just ran out of my time on the MCs so I have no idea about how well I did, and I think I perhaps will get 65% on the FRs (including a 0 from #7)… Praying for a generous curve… Do you guys think it will exess 75% for a 5? I mean, although the test this year is quite simple, CB will alther the curve but still the % of 5 will have a small increase, right?
Also, are they using different forms internationally?

Honestly, the exam was manageable; I distinctly remember there being only 2-3 MC questions that I was unsure of, and the FRQ’s were not that difficult (at least if you are someone who isn’t lacking in conceptual knowledge). Speaking of which, I was surprised by how little ‘hardcore’ math there was on the exam; I’ve heard similar trends from the AP Physics kids, which makes me think that this is CBs attempt to promote ‘well-rounded students,’ or some other type of rubbish. All in all, I’m confident I got a 5, or a high 4 if the curve this year is unnaturally low. Do any of y’all think it will be >77% for this year?
