Is there much of a difference between AP Chemistry and IB Chemistry? I reviewed both of the syllabuses and they seemed almost exactly alike. I'm wondering because I'm planning on taking IB Chemistry this year and then taking the AP Chemistry exam in May, without taking the course. I'm also planning on taking IB English and IB Spanish in school, then taking the corresponding AP exams. Does this sound viable? Is the IB course structure really that different from the AP course structure? Would I have to do any additional preparation for the AP exams?

From what I have been told IB classes go a little more in depth compared to AP courses. You will need to prepare for the test just like any other test I imagine.

Yeah, I’ll definitely prepare. What I’m asking is would it be enough to buy the AP review book and skim through it a couple of times? Or is the AP material completely different from the IB material?

AP chemistry > IB chemistry. Chuck Norris proved this.

/: That’s not good news for me.

BUT BASICALLY, all I want to know: is it feasible to take the IB Chemistry class and then take the AP Chemistry exam without taking the AP course? And the same goes for IB English and Spanish. Anyone?

bump please.
