AP Chemistry

Hi! I was wondering if anyone knew of a website that offered AP Chemistry? I’m taking a few AP courses online, but they did not offer AP Chem. Anyone have any ideas? I really want the credit, but I also would love to take the course!

If you can, I would say try to take an actual class (provided your school offers it). My AP Chem teacher says that some colleges don’t give credit unless they know you’ve done the labs, so we have to write lab reports for each lab in a special carbon copy lab notebook.

@Akustrei sadly they don’t. I can definitely do the labs, the course online requires you to. I found one through JHU.

there is no requirement of showing that you’ve done labs to get credit only that you got an appropriate score on the exam.

@jimmyboy23 Yeah exactly.

@southernbelle16 I would absolutely suggest the following: http://www.chemadvantage.com. I have taken the course myself, and Mr. Moskaluk does a fantastic job in preparing you for the AP exam, SAT II exam, and anything else chemistry related.

I believe the course is run through the Pennsylvania Homeschoolers AP Online Classes website and you can sign up during the summer prior to the year you take the class.

@rororoyourboat That would be a great supplement. I just need to find somewhere first that actual teaches the course for credit. I want to take the actual class and not just the AP exam or SAT II.

Some schools require the labs to get credit for the lab portion of the course. Penn used to; they recently eliminated this need.

@southernbelle16 Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Chemadvantage is a year-long online AP class for credit, with homework, tests, labs, etc.

Here’s the PA Homeschoolers link: http://www.aphomeschoolers.com/cgi-bin/choose.pl?class=chemistry

@rororoyourboat Oh, I’m sorry haha. So you took AP Chem from them?

@southernbelle16 Yes, I did. I go to a regular high school that didn’t offer AP Chemistry, so after taking honors chemistry at school, I took the online class offered by Chemadvantage. I would 100% recommend it. It is super thorough and while I haven’t taken the AP exam yet, I have gotten a 770 on the SAT II Chemistry. So I’ve definitely learned a lot!
