ap chinese dilemma?

hi guys,
i signed up to take the ap chinese test this year. i'm not in the class(in fact, far from the class, only in chinese 2) but I've studied a LOT of chinese on my own(reading books, chinesepod, etc) and I feel I can do pretty well on the ap test.
just a concern: will it look bad to colleges if I take the AP chinese test and do well? this may sound stupid, but I feel like it will give colleges the impression that I just want to get a 5 on a test super easy for me(i'm chinese, so they will probably assume i am good at chinese lol) just to look good on a resume. tell me what you think.
thanks!

Hmmm…there’s probably nothing wrong with it. I’m Chinese too, and hoping to death I score a 5 on that sucker. Doing well isn’t a bad thing, and doing well on the test shows them your ability, or they might just suspect you weren’t good in that particular subject. Make sure you know what they test; I’m taking the class now, and it’s going to take more than just a Chinese 2 vocabulary. There’s an oral prompt that could grill you on anything from geography to present celebrities to historical figures to drinks to tourist sites to food to colors to folk tales to medicine to ethnic groups to songs to martial arts to movies to language characters…
So all in all, study like crazy. Take a few practice exams. Good luck!
