AP Chinese Input Method

To those who have taken the AP Chinese test, I have a question for you guys. There is a typing/writing portion that you can either choose Pinyin or Zhuyin input method. This is mainly about Pinyin.

With Pinyin, I've seen usually like two kinds, one is that you have to type the full Pinyin out to the the response. The other is you can usually type the first or the first few letters of the word followed by other words to get like a sentence. I know that the AP Chinese test is taken on a Windows computer and I really hate their input method, I usually stick with Sougou's. It says that we can use "Microsoft Pinyin IME" but there are different configurations. If I want to type "I love reading books" do I have to type wo, then press a space then find the character, then ai, then du, etc... OR can I type wo'ai'du'shu or even better w'a'd'shu (just the first couple of letters used in the characters).

Anyway, I just want to ask those who have taken it.. Which one is it.
