AP Chinese - take it this year or next?

I am a junior right now and have some proficiency in Chinese. I struggle a bit to read the newspaper (I can get the idea of the article) but I can read signs pretty well. I am completely fluent in the listening, speaking, and typing (notice not writing).

I know that AP Chinese is being offered this year, 2007, but I have not found any institutions around my area that offers it. Furthermore, there are no "example textbook lists" on collegeboard, so I have no clue how to self-study it. I looked at the Course Description, but it is still vague and has no lesson plan.

Next year, my Chinese school is thinking of opening a AP Chinese course class and have it accredited by collegeboard. Though this will look better as it will show up on my transcript, I'm afraid it will be too late.

I heard that the first time a new AP Test enters, it's usually easier because they don't really know what they are looking at?

Do you suggest me to take it this year and have it not counted in my transscript? (in that case can you please refer me some textbooks and workbooks you are using if you are doing the same or go to a school that offers it?) Or should I take it next year? (But how about if it doesn't get accredited?? o.o)

Thanks! and Happy New Year!

You take it on a computer.

Yeah I know except that there is a reading portion. I'm horrible at reading Chinese

my first language is Chinese.
Should I take it?
I mean, is it gonna look good on college admissions? or is it just a waste of $82?

well some programs such as Huntsman (I know they accept only the SAT II) require proficiency in a second language. So for me, being an ABC, Chinese is my second language.

I know I am better at typing Chinese than at writing or reading. So that's why I thought AP Chinese may be a better alternative for me
