AP Chinese

What sort of writing input do you use for the writing section. I have windows vista with the Chinese pinyin thing installed, is it exactly like that?

If I string two or more pingyins together, will it give me 2 or more chinese characters or will I have to type one character at a time?

And I just started preparing for it this week, what are the chances of me getting a 5? I speak Chinese at home, but I can't really read and write.

I'm using the Barrons Chinese book right now, and I'm doing okay. I can get around 70-80% of the questions for listening and reading, will that be enough for a 5? How hard are the barron questions compared to the real thing?

i live in hk, so im fluent and im going to be taking the mock just to know what the system is like. ill tell you how it is like. i heard it was dead easy.

where can you go take a mock one?

my school offers it. but if you speak chinese at home, then the listening portion should be np!

Hopefully, though the Barron problems are kind of fast.

bump bump bump

Can someone who’s taken AP Chinese please answer this?

I really need to know what version of microsoft pinyin will be used. Is it just the version installed on the computer that you will be using or do they force everyone to use a standard version?

bump

no one’s willing to answer this?

:(

It’s MS Pinyin. Don’t worry if you have any variations of the version because it’s pretty straightforward on the test. It’s the one where you type pinyin and the characters are listed in a box that you can choose from. Make sure you pick the right format (simplified or traditional) at the beginning of the FRQ 'cause you won’t be able to change it later.

but I rely heavily on microsoft pinyin piecing words together which makes it a lot easier to pick the correct character. I’m guessing that won’t be offered on the real test?

It does do that. It works the same way as MS Pinyin.

^Holy crap really? That’s going to make my life so much easier.

what’s the curve like?

It’s like unreleased.

Lol i just started preparing today…
So there’s auto-complete for phrases? And if there is, what happens if it gives you the wrong combination of words?

I was in a foreign exchange program where I was forced to speak chinese for about 4months straight. I have the speaking portion down (ish), but my writing is awful.

If anyone has any tips please PM me. This is probably my weakest AP.
