I'm going to be a Junior this coming school year. I took Honors English in both 9th and 10th grade. For Junior year I wanted to start taking AP classes. So far I'm planning on taking AP Language and Composition, Pre Ap Pre-Calculus, and AP Biology.
I'm wondering if I should also take AP U.S. History just so I have more AP classes. I'm wondering if it'll be too much work and stress me out too badly. I only take six classes at my school. Any other advice on either of these classes?
Any info. is welcome!
Thanks!

I wouldn’t. You don’t want to jump in too quickly and find that you can’t handle the workload. Junior year’s GPA is arguably the most important for college apps, so you don’t want your grades to drop because you overworked yourself. AP Bio (at least in my county) is fairly hard and has a lot of work associated with it. AP English often isn’t quite as hard, but there will probably be more writing assignments than you’re used to, so it can be time-consuming. We don’t have pre-AP classes at my school, but you can at least expect it to be more work than your math class last year. All in all, I’d say you’re progressing quite nicely into harder classes and you shouldn’t worry about making too dramatic a change so quickly. If your only reason for taking AP US is so your schedule is more rigorous, don’t bother; it’s already good enough!

if you can handle it, take them

Thanks for your input guys! It’s appreciated!

APUSH isn’t that easy if you aren’t a history person. Which it seems like you lean a little bit more towards science and math.

If your school allows self-studies, I would self-study AP Environmental Science which is one of the easier AP tests, but check with your school first and see if it is allowed.

APUSH is a challenge, I would suggest waiting until your Sr year. If you think you could handle another AP, try World or Human Geo if it’s offered. Most people feel its easier.

As pretty much everyone else here has said, I would take it easy if you’re jumping right into AP courses. APUSH certainly isn’t a cake-walk, and, though AP Lang has one of the highest pass rates (if not the highest), it is a highly skill-based, essay-writing course. Pre-calc shouldn’t give you too many problems, but, of course, that’s dependent on your aptitude with math. Of course, APLAC and APUSH compliment each other, and, if you feel you can handle the workload or your courses last year were a breeze, then I’d give APUSH a shot. Just expect to be scrambling the whole year ;)

Take them if you can handle it I have 4 AP classes 1 honors class and another college class and itsvmy junior year in high school Its about 3-3.5 hours of homework and I still have plenty of time for friends, sports, work and sleep…

APUSH isn’t that hard. Take it.

APUSH is just lots of reading. Easy if you are motivated.
