AP CLASS Reccomendations....

Junior year I'm taking AP ES, AP CALCULUS AB, AP USH, and our English class prepares us for the AP ENGLISH EXAM....

Next year...I dont know what to take....

I was thinking.... AP GOV, AP MACRO/MICRO, AP STAT, AP ENGLISH and AP BIO.

I've never taken a full year of Bio...so do you think I could still take AP BIO.....
As I'm a strong math student, would you recommend AP Chem or Physics?

thanks...

Since you will have already taken AP Calc AB, if you feel you're handling that class well, you should do fine in AP Physics. My S took Ap Calc BC last year and is in Ap Physics C and hasn't broke a sweat yet.

would any of you guys recommend ap bio?

Take what you are interested in doing. If you just want to take the class because it looks good on a College App you will hate the class and as a result may not do so well in the class/AP test.

If you are interested in Biology or Physics then take the classes, if you are not then don't take them.

Bio has a lot of info. If your school has a good teacher teaching it, then by all means go ahead. But trying to learn it by yourself because the teacher sucks is gonna suck.

Bio is a painfully hard class for most people. If you're the type who can memorize and comprehend a book's worth of information, go with biology. If you like math and logic (as you said) go with chemistry. However, the key (for colleges) is to have a well rounded science background, so if you've never taken a bio or physics class, yet have taken an introductory chemistry class, it would likely be in your favor to not take AP chem.

Outside of the science area, it seems like you have a fairly easy workload. Government and economics are very easy for most people, and AP stat isn't a challenge for most people either. That being said, you may want to consider fitting in an additional class. I would recommend a science class.

AP Bio isn't too bad. I'm taking this year and even though I took Bio honors two years ago, it's pretty much like I haven't since I didn't learn anything in that class. I'm struggling a bit more than the others since the closest I've had to any of these concepts was "gifted science" back in 7th grade, but if you are willing to put in a bit of extra time to make up for what you missed by not taking a year of regular bio before it, you should be fine. If you start to struggle in AP Bio, just invest in a review book like Barron's or Cliffs and you should be fine. The rest of your courses seem fine though.

Yes, Bio has a lot of info, but it's not too bad even if you have a bad teacher. My teacher isn't very good, all we've done are masses of packets after reading the chapters and the packets don't even go along with the textbook or make sense, but I've still been able to learn a lot. It's not that bad if you put some extra time into it and get a review book to complement the textbook.

I dove straight into AP without taking the normal bio course. I got a 5. You should be fine as long as you do the reading (or cram info in the weekend before the exam like I did. CliffsAP FTW :)).
