I was just wondering if
taking the class and not taking the exam will be look upon
as a BAD thing by Admin...

YES (10char)

no. square head is being a block head. actually most admission officers dont review your ap score when considering your application. why? because to send your ap scores from college board to the colleges you want is very expensive. i think $40 per school. what matters is the grade. so dont beat your self to it, they dont review it.

You self-report scores on the application. If they aren't there, the admission officers might wonder.

Abemartin is partially correct, admins don't really review AP scores, but they can see that you didn't take the AP test which is bad. It's like taking a college course and not showing up for the final which at some places is an automatic F. So not taking the exam is bad.

Yes, that'd be bad. It doesn't even matter what score you get, unless you get a 1 and your grade's an A+, just.. take it.

It costs money by the way. I'm not sure it's such a bad thing to take class w/o AP test.

What if the AP class is a two year class?

My friend took AP US History, got a 2, and didn't report it on his app. He got into Princeton ED. You make the call.

If however, you might want to receive credit at your future school, it is imperative that you take the AP...

So Arti...

im assuming yoru friend just left it blank? (in the self reporting section)

I graduated from College in '97. I took numerous AP classes in High School, but only took one AP exam (AP Calculus). I went to Bryn Mawr College, and it didn't have any impact on my admissions.

Then again, perhaps things have changed over the last decade.

I really doubt that it would look 'bad" or be "looked down upon," as some of you have pointed out.

At some school APs cost more. At my HS it's $82 per exam. Some people just do not have that kind of money. They might take 5 AP classes, but could only afford--or they are only allowed to by their parents--to take two, three exams at max.

Fee reductions exist for a reason. Unless their parents are just stingy.
