AP Classes Accepted?

Does anyone know if Chicago accepts most AP credits? For example, would it be possible to start as a sophomore if you have ten AP classes with scores of 5?

Chicago, like most elite colleges, approaches education differently from a state university. In your local state U, starting as a sophomore may have some advantages in terms of registration priority etc. At good private colleges, there's little advantage, and, indeed, most do not go out of their way to label kids frosh, soph etc. Likewise, not many kids use AP credits to graduate early. Rather, they use the credits to gain flexibility.

You should read the course catalog carefully. You should have received it in the mail. In it, you should note that Chicago often discourages or even prohibits using AP credits for courses within one's major, especially the sciences. They also limit the number in total you can use.

So, if you want to get ahead quickly via AP credits, chicago may not be the best choice. Then again, one choses chicago for learning opportunity...

yeah, browse through the course catalog, that's where you'll find the info your looking for.

You won't be considered a sophomore at chicago, but you can graduate in three years with 36 credits under your belt. All you need is a 4 or 5 on two ap exams, and you can count each of those toward 3 elective credits. That way, instead of 42 quarters needed to graduate, you can just take 36, which is possible to do in 3 years. To do that in 3 years, however, you'll have to take 4 courses every quarter. With ap credits, you could also get out of some science and math core requirements , if you don't plan on majoring in courses that deal with the subjects. I know it's confusing, so go through the course catalog. Just know, it is very doable to graduate in three years from Chicago, but you'll have to work extremely hard.
