AP classes and B grades

When colleges look at your Senior 1st semester grades, how do they treat getting a B in an AP class?

I know most colleges give an extra grade point when calculating GPA, but do they see the grades more as letters or numbers?

B in AP class
B in AP class
B in normal class
A in normal class

Even though 2 are for AP classes, would the large amount of B's be a "turn off" for colleges? I wasn't expecting on getting a B in a normal class :(. Or would they see the grades strictly as a GPA?

I'm really relying on my 1st semester grades to show improvement. Considering my Junior GPA was around a 2.4 (and I didn't even take APs), going to a 3.75 is a huge jump, but I was reaalllly hoping for a 4.0W. The difference between 3.75 and 4.00 is small, but it's fact that I have 3 B's is bothering me.

you have a good shot at Penn and Duke... dont worry about it

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not -_-

Anyone else have a opinion?

Yeah, I know that, I didn't apply to any top schools like those though. I guess the most "prestigious" schools I applied to were UCLA and USC.

I think a 2.4 Junior year might be a bit of a turnoff, but I don't think your current grades are bad. But UCLA doesn't look at senior year grades in admissions.
