Hey, I was wondering about how many AP classes you should take to have a good chance at getting in. Right now i'm a sophomore in high school and i'm taking 1 AP (World History) and the rest honors core classes. I plan on taking 3 AP classes (AP Calc, AP Spanish, AP Chem) and 3 Honors next year (junior year). I am pretty confident about getting a 4 or 5 on the AP World History exam and I am trying really hard for a 5. So thats 4 AP's before ED, is that enough?
Also what is a good GPA for Cornell. Right now i'm at 202 psat (68 CR, 64 M, 70W), but im studying and want a 2250+.

It matters how many your school offers. If your school offers 5 and you take 4, that’s great. But if your school offers 20 and you take 4, that’s not good. Some schools only allow students to take APs senior year while some schools offer many APs but students have so many core courses that it is impossible to take more than 3/4 APs. For SATs, Cornell only looks at CR and M and the scores vary for each cornell college so it matters what you will apply to.

Well My school offers 19 (ouch), but a lot of them aren’t that interesting to me. Also you can not take AP classes freshman year and only like 1 or 2 during sophomore year. Does Cornell look at your senior year classes, because I want to take about 4 AP classes during senior year. So that is like a total of 8, and I also want to self study Economics.

My school offers like 11, but there only 4-5 good ones.

4-5 is pretty good, but make sure you have a few on your senior year workload as well.

I am doing the IB program and it is not that bad.

Your GPA and number of APs are both considered within the context of your school
