Ok, so I'm doing my schedule for next year and I wanted to know your opinions of some AP Classes. So far, I'm definitely taking BC Calc and AP Bio. First of, How hard is AP Stats? I know in my school people always complain but 36 out of 37 students got 3s or higher. Also, I'm thinking of taking AP Computer science but I have no background knowledge on programming and stuff like that. Like seriously nothing. Is it necessary to know stuff before taking the class. Lastly, what about AP Lit? I don't trust my english skills a lot and english is not my 1st language but I did get a 66 in critical reading (if that means anything) in the PSAT which i think is pretty decent. Is there a lot of work? Keep in mind I'm a junior and I'll be satisfied with B+ or A- in each class (unweighted) and getting a 4.

I think it depends a lot on who the teacher is. Ask around and find out at your school who the good teachers are. I have a great stats teacher and a good lit teacher this year so they’re not too hard. But, the comp sci teacher at my school is awful and you basically have to teach yourself. I’m not taking comp sci at all unless we get a new teacher. I think Lit has the most homework of those three, at least at our school.

BC Calc is easy if you’re a math person. If not, you’ll have to do more practice problems to really understand the concepts and get them ingrained in your mind.

According to what most of my classmates tell me, the AP Bio curriculum is way easier this year because College Board changed the entire nature of the exam. Like, you don’t even need to know all of the names of the stages of mitosis, according to several people. xD Also you can ask the people taking the exam this year (the guinea pigs ;)) what it was like.

AP Stats-the class itself is very easy and boring, but on the actual exam it is extremely easy to forget all the tiny little details you need to remember. The curriculum will probably be different at your school than mine, though-so ask some classmates what the class and exam were like.

Dunno about computer science sorry.

66 in CR is quite good! Congrats! Basically, AP Lit asks you to analyze a poem, some sort of prose, and then connect themes to a classic work in the free response. I’ve heard that the mc are like harder versions of the SAT CR. From what senior friends have told me, the students in Lit have to read a lot of books and write many essays, but again, this will differ from school to school.

Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot. I’m gonna end up taking AP Bio, BC Calc, AP Lit and AP Spanish (easy A).

I think that’s a good plan. The Lit should help you get a stronger score on SATs since English isn’t your first language.
