My school offers many AP courses, but does not offer many of the ones that I am interested in, such as Physics(both), CS, and economics(both). I am thinking about taking a couple online, but I have no idea what to expect. I cant distinguish between different programs, and I go to a private Catholic school so I dont know if i can take online public classes. Also is it better to take classes at a local college than APs?

Amplify (https://course-mooc.amplify.com/course) has an online AP CS course. It’s completely free and self-paced. However, to get high school credit for this course, you’ll need to talk to your GC and see what your school policy for online courses is. You can however get college credit simply from your AP score.

The course is pretty straightforward. Videos are released each week, and bi-weekly (or possibly tri-weekly?) labs, quizzes, and monthly exams are also announced. There are soft deadlines, but keeping up will help you prepare for the AP exam. There’s a discussion forum, but it can still be challenging at times if you don’t have someone to help you.

I’m self-studying AP Physics C (not sure exactly which physics you’re referring to), and using AP prep books, Khan Academy, and possibly other online sites to help. I’ve heard edX and college’s videos like MIT OpenCourseWare are also good.

As I haven’t taken economics yet, I’m not sure what is the best site, but I’m guessing edX / other sites would also have something.

You may have more trouble getting credit for dual enrollment classes than AP scores. My strategy is to take the test after a corresponding community college course. It depends on you college though (especially if it’s a community college). Some are really challenging (like the one I’m taking classes at), but others have lower standards. It also depends on the subject: apparently physics isn’t great at that CC, but math and chemistry is.

@Andr01d thanks so much! I’ll talk to my GC when I get back from break!
