I’m currently a junior in high school. In college, I want to major in business. So far, I have taken 2 APs freshman year, environmental science(4) and human geography(5), 2 APs sophomore year, Bio(4) and World(5), and 5 APs this year, Physics 1+2, Lang, Chem, and US. I put my scores for the AP exams i already took in parenthesis. I was planning on taking 8 APs next year.
Spanish
Lit
Stat
Psych
Econ(Macro Micro)
Calc AB or BC
Physics C
I feel like this may be too difficult a schedule for my senior year. Any suggestions?
Why? There is no magic # of AP’s to get you into to top schools so anything beyond 4-5 Senior year seems like a lot of undue stress and a GPA buster. Take either Calc or Stats, not both. You already have AP Physics 1+2, so take an easy elective or art course depending upon where you plan to apply.
@Gumbymom Since I want to major in business, which APs do you suggest I drop?
Definitely drop AP Physics C and Spanish if you have 3 years already (unless schools you plan to apply want 4 years). Since you are focusing on Business, both Calc AB and Stats make sense along with Econ and Psych. I think Psych is expendable if you need another year of Spanish. I personally feel you should take the AP classes that interest you, not what you feel colleges want to see as long as you have covered all required areas to graduate and apply.
^^^ I agree to drop those. And yeah, I took 4 APs and 1 honors senior year and that was quite a boatload. Don’t kill yourself over APs. It’s not worth it. I could have taken 3 and been just fine. I would say maybe take 2/3 AP and rest regular.
