Hey guys. As of right now, my school only offers only AP Gov, AP English IV, AP Bio, and AP Calc AB. I plan to take all of these, however I see tons of other applicants with 10+ AP courses. I was wondering how I would go about taking more AP courses (self-study?) and which ones I should take. I am a Sophomore if that helps.

I think that it would be awesome if you took online classes. It really helps, and most of the time they are easier…and you can go at your own pace! AP Environmental Science was easy online…if you’re interested. AP Human Geography is too! It just depends on your interests.

You are compared to those at your school. If you take all your school offers, you are not required to take any more, nor will you be punished for not taking any more. Don’t compare yourself to others on college confidential. each school is different

Online classes would have a much bigger impact on admissions than scores from self study. However, don’t feel pressured to take more AP’s just to compete with others from different schools and cities, as colleges will judge you based on context. If you max out on AP’s offered in your school, then you should be in good shape.

Thanks for the feedback! Is there any website you can recommend to use or how I would go about enrolling in the course? Sorry, I’m not to sure what I’m doing and I don’t really have anyone to go to

I can’t recommend a website because everyone is different, but you can go to a college website, and usually enroll there!

You’re supposed to take the most challenging courses available at your school. Your schedule isn’t going to be directly compared to the schedules of people who had more opportunities to take advanced classes. If your school doesn’t offer a particular AP class, you’re not expected to take it, so there’s no reason to self-study AP exams or take online classes unless you want college credit.

I’d only self-study for college credit.
