AP classes

I’m recently a high school freshman, and I really want to go to Harvard!!!

Is taking 4 AP’s good enough?

And this is my schedule for sophomore year

AP EURO, AP MACROECON, H. CHEM, H.ALGE 2, AP HUMAN GEO. ENG 2, AP psy

Should I change any courses?

and i forgot to put H. SPANISH 2

College’s judge you in the context of your high school. If your high school does NOT offer AP’s, Admissions won’t penalize you for not taking any AP’s. Therefore, if you attend a high school that doesn’t offer AP classes, then zero (0) AP classes is enough! Conversely, if your high school offers many AP courses, colleges expect you to have taken the maximum number available to you.

So, how many AP classes does the top 5% of student’s take at your high school? Whatever that number is, THAT is the number of AP classes that is good enough. If you don’t know the answer, ask your guidance counselor for a copy of your high school profile, which should list the number of AP courses offered at your high school, and the percentage of college bound students taking those courses.

For example, at Stuyvesant High School in New York City, which offers 31 AP courses, taking 4 AP’s would be considered a non-rigorous (lite) schedule, as the top 10% of the class takes 8 or more AP’s. So, the answer for Stuyvesant would be no, 4 AP’s is not good enough. While that is true for Stuyvesant, that’s NOT going to be true for your high school. So, ask your GC. That’s what they are there for, to answer questions like this one! http://stuy.enschool.org/ourpages/auto/2013/3/7/37096823/Stuyvesant_Profile%202014-15.pdf.
