Hey guys I will be a Sophomore in high school next year and I am planning on taking AP biology, AP World History and AP Spanish. Although I really want to take these courses, I still feel indecisive about taking them. I’ve done research and I’ve heard they’re considered to be very rigorous and how earning an A can be very difficult. Any advice? Thanks!
Have you taken honors biology and honors chemistry? If not, push AP Bio to later.
AP sansih as a sophomore would indicate you’re a heritage seeker, is that the case?
AP world is more common among sophomores so should be doable if you’re ok with social science, history, and reading.
In order to be most prepared for AP Biology, Biology and Chemistry are strongly recommended.
I’m assuming without Bio, your schedule is something like:
AP Spanish
AP World History
Sophomore Honors English
Pre-Calculus or Algebra 2
Honors science
Elective
For a sophomore, his schedule seems to be doable and also demonstrates sufficient course rigor, so there’s no need to rush into an AP science until you have the recommended prerequisites.
I took WHAP as a freshman. Believe me, it’s the easiest AP history class and one of the easiest APs out there. The information is very broad, general, and easy to memorize. You should be able to get a 4 or 5 with little effort.
You should only take AP biology if you’ve taken Biology honors and chemistry honors. At my school, a select few students are allowed to take AP bio as sophomores only if they were extremely good at biology, and had around 97s+ in the class. They were also required to take chemistry honors over the summer at summer school if they shoe to take AP bio as sophomores.
I don’t know how difficult AP Spanish would be at your school, so you would have to look into that and ask upperclassmen who have taken it already.
