AP Classes?

Okay so for Junior (next year) and Senior Year, I can take a total of 5 AP Classes. In order from easiest to hardest, here is the list of ones I am interested in taking
1)English 3&4 Lit Comp AP (easiest)
2)Environmental AP
3)AP Chemistry
5)AP Physics
6)AP Calculus
7)AP Bio

It is SET in stone I am taking AP English Junior Year (don't have to take any english senior year then) and AP Calculus Senior Year (taking regular Calculus next year)

I am considering going into Electronics, Pharmaceuticals, and/or Neuroscience (like psychiatry or something.. idk.). I have never taken Physics before (class wise) but do enjoy the subject. The problem is, I enjoy pretty much every math and science..

I took Honors Biology freshman year and got a 97. Sophomore year Honors Chemistry 98 and Honors Biology II 98. I have had the same Bio teacher for two years in a row now, he will probably write a killer letter of recommendation, but I'm sort of getting sick of so much bio.. lol.

My Chemistry teacher has his PhD from some Ivy, not sure what school, I forget. The class can kind of drag on, but the material is so fascinating.

I love the material of chemistry, but the class is meh. The material for bio isn't the most interesting, unless we're talking evolution or something, but my teacher is very animated.

Then we have Physics. No matter what I cannot take physics until senior year. And If I decide to take Just Honors Physics thats means I have to drop another AP Class, meaning I'm only taking four.. If I decide to take AP Physics then I have to take AP Environmental because it is (for me at least) going to be suicide taking AP Physics, AP Calc, and AP Chem or AP Bio..

soo...what do i do?

“I am taking AP English Junior Year (don’t have to take any english senior year then)”

you might as well cross of pretty much every college off your list, every single college requires 4 years of english, regardless of what ap’s you took

You should take four years of English, regardless. At my high school, it was AP English Composition for junior year, and AP English Literature for senior year.

If you don’t have that option, you should enroll in some more advanced English course at your local CC.

They’re combined, I have block scheduling so half a year at 1h 2min is equal to one class. AP English is a whole year long and is Comp and Lit 3&4. Its considered two years of english. Its junior english and senior english.

AP Chem & AP Bio, based on intended major. Take whichever you feel you are strongest in your Jr. year. Take the SAT2 subject test at the end of your Jr year in that subject. You will be best prepared at this time after preparing for the AP exam. Take the other your Sr. year.

I definitely feel stronger in Bio, out of all of them… but am I taking too little math junior year then? This is my junior year…
1)Religion (mandatory)
2)AP English 3
3)AP English 4
4)Spanish 3 Honors
5)US 1 Honors
6)Calculus Honors
7)AP Bio 1
8)AP Bio 2

Is that enough math? I’m so used to taking more math than that… that’s why I’m thinking AP Chem and then AP Physics senior year… but then again I’m not sure how strong I am in Physics and Chem just comes easily to me… idk. :/

Unless you are VERY strong in both, I wouldn’t recommend Chem & Physics in the same year. I would choose one or the other, AP Chem based on what you stated above. That gives you 5 units of science (if I am counting right) which is enough. Are you taking Spanish in your Sr year?
So I understand, with your scheduling each of the above classes lasts a semester, taking 4 at a time? You would want to take Math both semesters so that you do not forget those skills. Even with ‘traditional’ students the break from June to September allows for material to be forgotten.
With your specialized schedule I would recommend speaking to your GC. Hopefully you have a good one who can give you good advise.

Unfortunately, my guidance counselor really does not guide :frowning: yeah, I don’t want to take AP calc, AP physics, and AP chem in the same year. When you said AP chem, do you mean for next year? or senior year?

Ap chem and Ap physics ( i assume you mean C?) is doable together. however, physics C is a very hard class, and a hard test… lot of material. Chem is a little easier (though maybe im spoiled because i had a really great teacher…)
Overall, I think that if you are interested in Bio you should pursue it–three years of biology will look good (if thats what you are interested in)

i’m not exactly sure what i’m interested in. I know it’s slightly irrelevant, but I’m a girl (your stereotypical looking blonde that likes glitter and pink…lol) who just loves math. any kind of math, aside from geometry… i don’t know if bio truly interests me, i just have a very interesting, cool teacher, but the information isn’t anything truly exciting to me… chemistry the class at my school can be very dry. my teacher has is PhD in chem and is so incredibly advanced he has to dumb it down for us… but on the other hand the material is just really amazing, so i’m not exactly sure which one i should take for next year…

From my friend who had already pass AP Physic& AP Chem with an “A” by taking the same year, she ever told me that taking both in semester was really hard but nothing harder than your ability if you spend your time on it ,like my friend. So I don’t recommend if you’re not interest in those major area, unless you’re Asian. If you’re Asian or wanting to go IVY ,I’ll recommend taking AP Calculus BC with AP Physic& AP Chem together in the same year. OR switching from Physic to Bio depending on your major because it’s more competitive than others.

I took AP CalcBC, Chem, and PhysicsB during Junior year. For me, CalcBC/Chem were about the same, and Physics was very hard. Physics is memorization. (tons of equations… TONS. random facts. special problems. and more). Chem significantly less equations but a lot of “broad” concepts. You’ll struggle if this is your first year chem though, because AP chem pretty much assumes you know the basic stuff. Calc is a different kind of math; I enjoyed it a lot. It was an eye opener for me. Theorems and stuff were pretty easy to memorize, and questions are often straightforward. Either you know it or don’t know it. Personally I recommend math and chem… Physics is just too much memorization.

Oh and bio since you’re good at it ^^ People said bio and chem were kind of related, though I never took AP bio before. Taking it next year.

I’m just a little confused because I have very little math for junior year, and I’m just not used to it. Usually I double up in math every year (take two years in one) but I can’t next year because there is nothing higher than Calculus besides AP Calc but thats for senior year… so I’m only taking one semester of math and the other half of the year doesn’t have math in it. The problem I have is that I loove the material in Chem, and my teacher is cool, but he isn’t a very good teacher. Like he’s a cool guy and really chill, but he’s not great as a teacher. That could also be because he has his PhD in Chemistry and some Physics thing from an Ivy, so he might be having trouble just dumbing it down :P

Biology on the other hand is interesting, no doubt, but does not hold the same amount of excitement I get from Chemistry. My bio teacher is incredible though. Its hard because I like the bio class, not the material, and vice versa for chem…

If it helps, these are the math and sciences I have already taken:
2 Years of Bio: Freshman Honors Bio and Sophomore Advanced Bio Honors
1 Year of Chem: Sophomore Honors Chem
I have yet to take Physics, but I may take a quick crash course next summer before I take AP
Pre-calculus Honors as a Sophomore and then next year I will have Calc.

While that would show you with four years of English, when your senior year classes are listed and there is no senior year English included, questions may arise. Is this really the best possible scheduling option?

Its the only scheduling option available for me, there are many kids that have graduated at my school that have taken AP English 3&4 Junior year and have had no problems getting into top colleges… I’m more worried about my sciences than english…
