AP/Community College courses on COLLEGE transcript

Hi all,

*sorry for posting this in admissions, I don’t really see where else I would put this though

First, do AP and community college course grades taken in high school show up on college transcripts? In particular top colleges (UCLA, UCB, NYU, NW, Stanford, Yale, etc). If I bombed a community college course my sophomore year in HS, is that going to affect my college GPA?

Similarly, do these grades show up on applications to graduate schools? I understand that they show up for law school through the LSAC. I’m asking about other graduate school programs such as masters degrees, PhD programs, etc.

Third, do potential employers after college see these grades? Or do I just show potential employers my college GPA.

Thanks

AP Course grades will not show up on your college transcript because they are not college courses. If you claim AP credit, the score may appear, but that’s dependent upon the college.

CC grades, if you receive credit from the university, may or may not appear on your transcript and may or may not be calculated into your GPA. Again, each college has its own rules, so it’s best to ask them.

Most colleges do not include grades from transferred courses in their own GPA calculations, but some may, so check each individual college.

In general, graduate and professional programs want to know about all college course work and grades that you have completed. So you may have to report and send transcripts for all colleges that you have attended.

Employers may wish to verify self-reported GPA and course work by asking for transcripts.

Thanks for the replies. So seems like a lot of this varies on a college to college basis.
