So I am planning on taking AP Computer Sci online next year during high school through Northwestern CTD, and I know that theres the Java 1 requisite, but what kind of course is java 1?? I would like to take it over the summer, but the course through Northwestern claims to be 4-6 hours PER DAY of work over the summer, which is ridiculous.. Are there any places that offer online java 1 more reasonably (2 hours per day or less) or have the stuff taught in a java so i can teach it to myself over the summer?? Is this an achievable goal?? I am good with computers already (I know some html code and whatnot but I dunno if that is related at all).. Or am I better off just not taking AP comp sci in the first place?? HELP!!!!

I have taken an online CTD course and taken the AP Com Sci course. I didn’t take it online but it wasn’t too hard. I am a very passionate programmer and had a good basic understanding of Java going into the class. Just make sure you know the basic format code is written. If you have any iDevice or have iTunes, go to iTunes U and download the course Programming Methodology this is a Java course that is the AP Com Sci equivalent at Stanford. Although the beginnings of the class are very basic.

iTunes U also has a iPhone/iPad/iPod app, I highly recommend it. If you study out of this class you will do fine.

PS: I took this course as a freshmen and it went fine. Good luck
