AP Comparative Government help

I was reading the Ethel Woods (2nd Edition) book and felt it was a bit too simplistic.

For example, the book never explains what a mixed electoral system exactly is. So did you use any online resources to help you study? If so, can you post them?

Thanks

Is this going to be your first, or one of your first AP exams? I just looked into my Ethel Wood book, and what it says about mixed electoral systems is all you need to know about mixed electoral systems. For most of the humanities subjects, you don't really need to have any in-depth information about half the concepts.

Hey I'm really interested in self-studying AP Comp Gov. I was wondering what the best textbook for this would be and what else I would need to study. I'd also like to know which prep book CC thinks is best for this AP. Thanks.

This is my second AP Exam. Although I'm taking the course at school, I thought it would be a good idea to study during the summer!

Comparative is easy... you really shouldn't be worrying about the test already, especially if you're taking a class.

I self studied for the comparative government AP by reading the Ken Wedding book the night before the exam. I didn't even get to the last couple of chapters until the lunch break between the US gov exam and comparative. I got a 5. Not the best strategy in the world, but it worked. The best thing you can do at this point is to cultivate the habit of reading the international news religiously; that's what saved my butt.

What's funny about what you just said is that the Ken Wedding book is absolute crap. This basically proves that the comparative government exam is easy, because you can get a 5 on it without even reading a quality review book.

That was my gist, yep. To be fair, I'm a good test taker, I had a good amount of outside knowledge about international politics backing me up, and I knew how to work with the essay formats because of the other APs I'd taken. But the information I had tailored specifically to the exam wasn't great, so clearly this is not one of the harder APs... someone self-studying from a crappy review book for AP bio, for instance, probably wouldn't have very good luck.

That shouldn't be a big issue at all :)
